Tony and Shawn met salsa dancing in 2004. As they continued dancing together they shared their love of salsa and swing with one another. They quickly realized the similarities in the two dance styles and have enjoyed doing both dances together ever since.

Tony Nguyen has been dancing Salsa/Mambo since 1997. After studying Latin Ballroom, he became fascinated with the way Salsa was being danced in the nightclubs. He was inspired to learn the nightclub style of dancing salsa/mambo that is done by the best salsa dancers in the world today.
From 2000-2003, he performed with dance companies from all over the capital region, including Stanley Nazaire's Visage Dancers and Cecelia Villalobos' Salsa Fuego Dance Company, the oldest existing salsa dance group in the DC area. In 2001, he began instructing and co-founded a new dance team in Baltimore with Stanley Nazaire, the Nuevo Ritmo Dance Company.
Tony has performed nationally and internationally at the New York Salsa Congress, the Puerto Rico World Salsa Congress, and West Coast Salsa Congress. He has also performed with legendary salsa bands such as El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and Sonora Carruseles. Some other credits include performances on Spanish television such as the Univision cable station.

Shawn Nguyen began dancing at the age of 7 and has extensive training in ballet, tap, and jazz. She has taught group and private lessons and judged events in west coast swing since 2001. Some of her most recent placements in West Coast Swing include 2nd place in the Advanced Sophisticated Swing Division at Swing Fling in Virginia in 2004 and 4th place in the Showcase Division at the Mid Atlantic Dance Jam in Maryland in 2004. She placed 1st in the Open Classic West Coast Swing division at the Virginia State Open in Virginia in 2003 and in 2001. She also took 1st place in the Advanced Jack and Jill at Swing Fling in Virginia in 2002.
Tony and Shawn currently teach West Coast Swing, Salsa and Hustle in the greater Baltimore/DC area. They have judged competitions and taught workshops at various dance competitions such as the Easterns Dance Challenge, Swing Fling, Virginia State Open, Disco America and U.S. National Dance Championships.
